Our Story

Meet Murray & Julian

Our story starts with these two third and fourth generation farmers from Nelson, New Zealand.

Neighbours and mates for years, Murray and Julian believed we should be eating dairy the way it used to be – full of the goodness of A2 protein. So for over a decade, they knuckled down and bred their cows to be 100% A2-certified.

When life gives you great milk…

…make great ice cream. But that wasn’t Murray and Julian’s first thought.

They knew their milk was too delicious to send off in a big tanker. They considered turning it into yoghurt and cheese until local food technologist and friend Kristy Giles suggested something different.

‘Turn it into ice cream’ she said. So they did.

Locally grown but made of more

Since selling our first scoop in December 2017, we’ve built our very own creamery in sunny Nelson.

Just 15-minutes down the road from Julian and Murray’s farms, this state-of-the-art facility means we can share our ice cream with the world without losing the quality and integrity that’s at the heart of everything we do.

sustainable

Doing good, giving back

As third and fourth generation farmers, Murray and Julian’s families have looked after this land for over 170 years. We want to continue doing the same. That’s why we’ve committed to investing 10% of our annual profits into supporting sustainable farming initiatives and environmental projects in our local region. But this is just the beginning.

We’re always looking for ways to lighten our footprint, from our processes to our packaging. But big changes take time. So please bear with us as we work towards doing things better.

From cow to cone

We take the whole process and turn it into a labour of love.
